Description Position Overview
- We are seeking a dedicated and proactive School Security Resource Officer to support school administration in maintaining a safe, secure, and positive learning environment. This role involves working closely with students, staff, parents, and law enforcement to promote safety, prevent incidents, and foster a respectful school climate.

- Responsibilities: Assist school administration in maintaining a safe and secure campus environment. Apply knowledge and experience in handling situations involving potential weapons violations or controlled dangerous substances. Conduct regular security inspections to deter criminal or delinquent activities. Greet and screen students upon entry, including safety wand checks, and collect prohibited items for the Director. Initiate positive interactions with students to build rapport and encourage responsible behavior. Assist in conflict resolution efforts and de-escalate potential incidents. Serve as a visible, professional presence within the school community and act as a positive role model for students. Attend and participate in school functions, including graduation ceremonies. Build strong working relationships with school staff, students, and parents. Collaborate with local law enforcement as needed to address safety concerns.
Requirements
Work Schedule: Hours: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday Attendance at special events, including the AUS Youngstown Graduation, is required. Dress Code: Khaki or black pants and a black, white, or tan polo shirt with “Security” or “Resource Officer” visibly displayed.
Qualifications
Prior experience in school safety, security, law enforcement, or related fields preferred. Knowledge of safety protocols related to weapons, contraband, and controlled substances. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to build trust and maintain professionalism in all interactions. Conflict resolution and de-escalation skills.
