About the role

Faculty

are expected to plan and teach assigned courses at the graduate level, providing primary instruction and evaluation of students against department and accreditation standards. Duties also include preparing instructional materials, coordinating lectures and tests, and providing professional mentoring to students.

Job Summary

Assignments will include teaching, at the graduate level.

Teaching assignments may be on the main campus or at off-campus sites within our region.

Additional duties may be assigned by supervisor.

Job Description

Typical duties include but not limited to

  • Plans and teaches in assigned course(s).
  • Attends course orientation and faculty meetings, as required.
  • Provides primary instruction and evaluation of students against department and accreditation standards.
  • Prepare syllabi, instruction materials; coordinate lectures and tests.
  • Provide professional mentoring to students.
  • Contribute to course and/or curriculum development.
  • Function as an effective, active, and collegial team member.

Other duties

• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Masters in Counseling.
  • All candidates must have at least two years of experience in the field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching courses in Mental Health Counseling, including Practicum and Internship.
  • Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida
  • Experience in teaching at the University or graduate level, supervision experience, and experience in the counseling profession.
  • Doctorate in Counseling.
  • Graduates from CACREP accredited programs will be given preference.
  • Experience with on-line learning management systems like Canvas or Blackboard as well as instruction/ supervision experiences that use active learning in online and face to face classrooms is preferred.
  • Licensure as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor.

  • Possess the knowledge of general written standards and procedures utilized, and have the ability to read, interpret, and follow procedural and policy manual related to the job tasks.
  • Demonstrate the ability to respond to supervision, guidance and direction in a positive, receptive manner and in accordance with stated policies.
  • Provide quality customer service by creating a welcoming and supportive environment.
  • Present a professional image in word, action and attire.
  • Apply effective techniques to create working relationships with others to achieve common goals; successfully communicates and collaborates with others to achieve goals.
  • Demonstrate skills necessary to look at situations and processes critically to make recommendations for improvement.

Requirements

A Master's degree in Counseling is required, along with a minimum of two years of experience in the counseling field. Preferred qualifications include experience teaching Mental Health Counseling courses, licensure as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida, and a Doctorate in Counseling.
