Head Start Assistant Teacher

The assistant teacher supports the teacher in implementing quality, individualized early childhood education by facilitating developmentally appropriate practices in an inclusive environment. This involves assisting in planning and implementing activities, ensuring classroom safety, maintaining required ratios, and supporting parental involvement.

Candidates must possess a minimum of a childhood development associate credential (Cda) with the preschool endorsement, tcc, tcd, or equivalent, and must be at least eighteen years old. Required knowledge includes theories of child growth and development, and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse families, including those with limited english proficiency.
