  • Percentage: Up to 25%SUMMARY The purpose of this position is to maintain an effort to promote a healthier, safer camp community. The health care aide is the individual with the day-to-day responsibility to implement the health care plan for camp. PRIMARY DUTIES Assumes primary responsibility for health and wellness of campers, incidents and parent contact logs of campers and staff. Assures that proper safety and first aid procedures are carried out. Maintains weekly contact with on-call doctor. Maintains daily cleanliness and supplies of health suite. Assumes responsibility for interpreting the behavior and discipline policies, safety, first aid and emergency procedures, policies and traditions of the camp to the camper. Manages emergencies and crises within scope of training and experience. Maintains a friendly, warm and caring atmosphere and attitude. Makes full use of donated supplies and other supplies provided for this position. Assists with pre-camp set up, identifying inventory, and purchasing supplies. Assists with end of season camp inventory, breakdown, packing and storing procedures. SECONDARY DUTIES Prepares for and actively participates in staff training, orientation, meetings and supervisory conferences. Provides camp health plan training to staff and volunteers. Adhere to the camp’s personnel policies. Assists in providing supervision to campers. Visually identifies hazards in the camp operation and respond appropriately. Able to work and communicate well with a variety of age groups. Supports a welcoming and positive environment for volunteers and works with them effectively. Other duties as assigned within the scope of the position. QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS Certification in First Aid and CPR At least 25 years of age. Experience in providing basic first aid to children. Experience as a camper or working with children as a leader or assistant leader in a day or residential camp environment Ability to communicate verbally with campers and provide instructions. Must wear camp T-shirts, appropriate shorts and shoes at all times. Capable of implementing daily activities and completion of minor administrative tasks through verbal and written communication. Ability to relate to one’s peers as well as to children. Ability to accept supervision and guidance. Ability to physically accompany the campers to any of the camp activities. Ability to display enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience and self-control. Ability to commit to 8 weeks of uninterrupted work and pre and post camp planning meetings. Demonstrates emotional maturity, integrity, adaptability and high moral character. Demonstrates exceptional leadership, administrative, supervisory and organizational skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office and computer operations. A genuine liking for children and outdoor camp life. Successful completion of background screening.
