Instructional Assistant

The instructional assistant primarily provides direct instructional assistance to students of limited english proficiency, supporting teachers, staff, and administration to ensure academic learning gains are met. Key duties involve managing esol program enrollment, administering proficiency tests, documenting student progress, and facilitating communication between the school and parents of english language learners.

Candidates must possess an associate's degree and demonstrate written and oral proficiency in a language other than english, preferably spanish, to support limited english proficiency students. The role requires sensitivity to minority student needs, respect for diverse cultures, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
