Responsibilities

  • The Director of First Aid will report directly to the Camp Director.
  • The Director of First Aid will be involved in ordering and organizing medical supplies in coordination with the Summer Program Medical Director
  • The Director of First Aid will be responsible for the Summer Program Medical paperwork as it pertains to the State of CT License, which will include, but is not limited to the following.
  • a. Following the Camp Doctor’s Standing Orders/Emergency Procedures b. Logging each campers treated injury in the bound Camp Medical Log. c. Meet with parents/guardians at check-in for plan of care review d. The dispensation of the appropriate Medication to any camper whose Medical Health Record has been properly filled out. e. Review of all Health Records for all campers
  • Discuss any concerns or medical issues with Camp Director and appropriate staff.
  • Establish and maintain regular infirmary hours, including medication times, with a note of where in campus you are located if not at the health center.
  • Perform weekly inventory checks of all dorm and program area first aid kits to ensure proper stock and placement throughout campus, log all treatments that are documented.
  • Review, log, and maintain all records in MARs and bound medical book, ensuring participants’ documents are complete prior to the beginning of each session.
  • Record treatment and medication administered to student campers in the bound medical book.
  • Every Monday, prepare and distribute Camper Medical Report to counselors.
  • Perform all other duties assigned by the Program Director or Seasonal Assistant Program Director.

Qualifications

1. Must be at least 21 years old.

2. Must have the appropriate certifications

  • American Red Cross Standard First Aid Training or equivalent
  • American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer or equivalent
  • Appropriate Administration of Medication Certificate
