Position: Preschool Lead Teacher
Reports to: Director of Childcare
Position type: Non-Exempt, Full-Time
Position Summary
The Lead Teacher plays a vital role in nurturing, teaching, & guiding children (from 6 weeks to Pre-K) in a Christ-centered environment. This position involves partnering with parents, support & administrative staff to ensure a safe & loving space where children can grow in all areas. Preschool is a ministry of FB Concord with a vision of inspiring students and families to follow Jesus.
Qualities + qualifications
· Uphold Biblical priorities through a growing personal relationship with Jesus.
· Become an active member of FB Concord or be an active member of a local like-minded bible teaching church
· Develop personal evangelism opportunities within & outside the church & school
· Encompass the qualities and characteristics of Concord staff members as outlined in our Staff Values and Statement of Faith
· Per TN Licensing Requirements be at least 21 years of age
· Associate's degree, CDA, or TECTA certification or 1-3 Year experience teaching early childhood education
· CPR/1st Aid Certification preferred- able to obtain upon hire
· Agree with and abide by CCS Christian Philosophy of Education
Responsibilities: · Maintain classroom cleanliness, organization & visual appeal as required
· Create, submit and follow age-appropriate lessons plans from program provided curriculum & themes – ensuring sub plans are readily available & prepared
· Create a safe, welcoming, engaging, scheduled & consistent classroom for all learners
· Understand & comply with all TN Early Childhood Licensing Requirements – including ongoing trainings
· Understand and comply all CCP requirements & best practices as outlined in the Preschool Operations Manual – including trainings, staff meetings & events
· Utilize Assistant Teacher in the daily activities of the class
· Communicate regularly & professionally with parents about their children’s growth & development. Notifying admin team of any concerns
· Ensure constant supervision of class with safety & developmental needs as a priority
· Implement a positive, age-appropriate behavior management approach aligned with school policy
· Encourage & support creativity & independence during activities & crafts, focusing on child-led learning
· Ensure that clean toys, activities, & expectations are developmentally appropriate
· Provide feedback & suggestions to grade level team lead for program improvement
· Maintain classroom budget & resources – including curriculum & assessment tools
· Duties will vary based on the age of the classroom
· Work to ensure that confidentiality is maintained by faculty and staff as it pertains to student discipline, academic struggles or staff issues
· Fulfill other duties as assigned by the administrative team
Working Conditions
Typically, a 5-day a week classroom schedule. Work includes but is not limited to walking, standing, walking up and down stairs, squatting, bending, carrying items up to 45lbs, getting up and down off the floor. Time will be spent both indoors and outdoors, in both quiet and chaotic spaces.
