Academy & upper middle school teacher (Grades 5–8)

Position overview

An Academy and Upper Middle School Teacher for 5–8 is responsible for providing high-quality, Christ-centered instruction that nurtures students academically, spiritually, socially, and emotionally. Teachers serve as role models of Christian character, integrating biblical truth into daily instruction while fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment. This position may include teaching Math, English/Language Arts, Bible, History, and/or Science.

  • Main responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons aligned with school curriculum standards and Christian worldview principles
  • Integrate biblical truth and Christian values into instruction and classroom culture
  • Create a safe, respectful, and structured classroom environment that supports student learning and growth
  • Assess student learning through assignments, projects, quizzes, and tests; provide timely and meaningful feedback
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress
  • Communicate regularly and professionally with parents, students, and school staff
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support curriculum development and school-wide initiatives
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, chapel services, and school events
  • Model Christ-like behavior in speech, actions, and relationships with students and the school community
  • Support and uphold the mission, vision, and statement of faith of the school

  • Teach foundational and advanced mathematical concepts using clear instruction and practical application
  • English/Language
  • Arts: Develop reading comprehension, writing, grammar, and communication skills
  • Bible: Teach biblical literacy, theology, and Christian discipleship in age-appropriate ways
  • History: Present historical content through a biblical worldview, emphasizing critical thinking and cultural understanding
  • Science: Teach scientific concepts while exploring God’s creation and encouraging inquiry and discovery

Qualifications

  • A personal, growing relationship with Jesus Christ and agreement with the school’s statement of faith, the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
  • aBachelor’s degree in Education or a related field (subject-area degree preferred)
  • Teaching experience at the middle school level preferred
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
