The Lecturer will be responsible for teaching graduate-level courses, advising graduate students, and assisting with student recruitment and selection. Additionally, the role involves contributing service to the University's urban mission, departmental committees, and professional associations.
Candidates must be a School Counselor or hold a degree in a related field, with a doctorate being preferred, although master's level counselors with extensive experience will be considered. Experience supporting racially and ethnically diverse individuals in schools is highly desirable, and Massachusetts Licensure as a School Counselor is preferred.

The School Counseling program is housed in the Department of Counseling and School Psychology within the College of Education and Human Development (https://www.umb.edu/education/ [https://www.umb.edu/education/]). The Department also includes graduate programs in mental health counseling, counseling psychology, school psychology, and Applied Behavioral Analysis. The College of Education and Human Development is ranked the top public school of education in the state of Massachusetts (U.S. News and World Report, 2025) and is guided by our core values of social justice, community engagement and academic excellence.

UMass Boston expects to pay within an approximate range between $60,000 and $80,000 for this position.
The specific pay for this position will be determined by the University based on the consideration of all relevant factors when and if it decides to extend an offer of employment. Exceptional candidates may be considered for salaries above the published range to ensure competitiveness within the academic market.
