Description This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the supervision of the Director of Youth Development, the Y Tots Programming Instructor is responsible for the supervision, curriculum deployment, and program excecution of Y Tots programming at the YMCA in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

Requirements
Must be available to facilitate programs on Tuesdays and Thursdays for approximately 2 hours per session. Facilitates Y Tots programming curriculum for the following classes: Y Tots Sensory Play and Y Tots & Talk. Supervises youth during program implementation ensuring that youth are engaged and safe. Comfortable facilitating activities independently while adapting to different age groups and learning styles. Ability to lead engaging, hands-on activities related to art, STEM, games, or other specialty program topics. Ability to work well with those of all ages, including parents. Strong communication and classroom/group management skills. Ability to set up, supervise, and clean up program materials and activity spaces. Ability to create a welcoming, inclusive, and safe environment for all participants. Ability to follow YMCA policies and safety procedures. Work Environment: Prolonged standing, bending, walking, and stretching. Hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate equipment and activities. Occasional lifting up to 25+ pounds. Use of vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust. Moderate to loud noise levels in the work environment. Occasional stooping, kneeling, and crawling. Necessary Skills and Qualifications: CPR/AED/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire). Mandated Reporter Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire). Preferred Skills and Qualifications: Possession of Spanish language both written and spoken (preferred). CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION AND REQUIRED TRAININGS & CERTIFICATIONS The Bloomington-Normal YMCA adheres to the strictest regulations pertaining to Child Abuse Prevention and requires all staff and volunteers to complete Child Abuse Prevention Training at time of hire and on an annual basis. Other required trainings and certifications, provided by the YMCA during on-boarding or within the first 60 days of employment, include: Illinois Mandated Reporter Certification, Illinois Sexual Harassment and Discrimination Training, CPR/AED/First Aid certification, and OSHA training including Bloodborne Pathogens.
