We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to support students' healthcare needs in a school setting. The LVN will work closely with school personnel, healthcare providers, and families to ensure the safety and well-being of students requiring medical care during school hours
Duties/ Responsibilities
- Student
- Health
- Support: Diabetes monitoring, including blood sugar testing and insulin administration. Catheterization, gastrostomy tube feeding, oral suctioning, and other specialized procedures as needed. Administering prescribed medications and providing ventilator-dependent care. Screen students for health conditions (e.g., lice, fever, vomiting) and communicable diseases requiring exclusion from school. Assist with general health office management, including documentation and immunization record maintenance. Clean medical equipment and maintain the health office in an orderly manner.
Collaboration and Communication
Follow the instructions of the school administration and as required by law. Collaborate with teachers and staff to maintain discipline and encourage positive behavior in the classroom and during school activities. Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to ensure health and safety policies are understood and followed.
Supervision and Assistance
Supervise students during health-related activities and ensure their medical needs are met for field trips. Assist students with physical needs, including the use of wheelchairs, crutches, or other mobility aids. Provide toileting assistance and diapering for students as required.
School Culture and Safety
- Actively contribute to a safe and inclusive school environment by addressing student health needs promptly and professionally. Assist with first aid and minor nursing duties as required.

- Development: Attend training sessions, workshops, and staff meetings to remain current on best practices in student health care.

- Duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned to support school operations and student well-being.

- Requirements: Visual acuity to see details at close range. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Mobility to traverse all areas of the school site and assist with the physical handling of students when necessary. Physical stamina sufficient to sit, stand, or walk for prolonged periods. TB and DOJ Clearance
Qualifications
& Requirements: Current California LVN license in good standing. Current CPR and First Aid certification. Minimum of 1 year of experience in a pediatric, school, or community health setting preferred. Experience with special education students or those requiring medical interventions in school settings is a plus. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with school staff, students, and families. Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to document medical care accurately. Must maintain active Professional Liability Insurance Must pass a background check and TB test Reliable transportation and ability to commute to assigned school sites
