Job Summary
The Extended Care Teacher’s Aide supports the Extended Care Teacher in providing a nurturing, safe, and engaging environment for children. This role involves assisting with student supervision, managing daily routines, supporting academic activities, and maintaining a positive, organized classroom setting. The aide plays a crucial role in extending the warmth and care of home and contributing to the mission of fostering students' growth and development. Please note that this position is hiring for the Fall of 2026-27.
Key Responsibilities
- Student
- Assistance and
- Supervision: Assist with the check-in/check-out process, including managing student arrivals and departures. Support the teacher in implementing classroom routines and behavioral expectations. Aid in providing academic support and guidance for homework and activities.
- Classroom and
- Activity
- Management: Prepare and organize materials for daily activities and ensure the classroom is ready for use. Monitor students during transitions, recess, and bathroom use, ensuring safety and adherence to rules. Help clean and maintain the classroom environment, including vacuuming/sweeping and organizing supplies.
- Recess and
- Safety: Assist in securing recess gates and checking playground safety. Support the teacher in managing supervision zones and ensuring that playground equipment is returned after use. Monitor restroom use, ensuring that the door is propped open and that students follow bathroom rules.
- Only applicable to employees 18 and older: Ensure students’ safety to parents’/guardians’ vehicles as they dismiss.
- Communication and
- Support: Communicate effectively with students, providing clear instructions and support. Work collaboratively with the teacher and other staff to ensure smooth daily operations. Assist in communicating with parents during pickup times and ensure a positive end-of-day experience.

Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework in Education or Child Development preferred. Experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting is beneficial. Strong organizational skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks. Commitment to the mission and values of Calvin Christian’s Extended Care Program. Familiarity with Christian teachings and Reformed perspective is a plus.

Pay & Benefits This position is a part-time hourly position. Hourly rate ranges between $15-$17 (commensurate with experience). This role is not eligible for benefits but does accrue Self-Care Time (SCT) per school policy.

- Wednesday: 2:00-6:00 PM Shift end times may vary depending on daily student attendance and required staff-to-student ratios. There are also several half days throughout the school year.
- On these days, shifts run from 11:45
- AM-6:00 PM, with end times varying based on student attendance and staffing needs.
Travel Requirements No regular travel required.
Working Conditions Work is performed in and around the school campus. Must be able to work indoors and outdoors at moderate noise levels.
