- Description: Rhodes College is hiring two (2) Staff Athletic Trainers. This position functions as an allied healthcare professional with independent decision making who insures the healthcare and safety of intercollegiate student-athletes and the athletic department. The responsibilities include the complete spectrum of medical care (physical and mental) of student-athletes including but not limited to injury reduction, coverage of events, evaluation/assessment, referral to directing physicians, treatment, rehabilitation of injuries, illnesses and return to activity protocols. Provides on-site coverage for high risk activities and serves as first in the chain of command for emergency response. - Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree, required; Master’s degree, preferred. Previous experience with manual therapy, preferred. Must communicate effectively with all types of people, and establish and maintain a strong working relationship with students, parents, alumni, faculty, staff and other college personnel. Must have the ability to work responsibly with minimal supervision. NATA BOC certified; State of TN Athletic Trainer license eligible. CPR/AED Certified. This position requires a valid driver’s license, a good driving record, and must be insurable by the College’s insurance carrier. Must communicate effectively with all types of people, and establish and maintain a strong working relationship with students, parents, alumni, faculty, staff, and other college personnel. Must have the ability to work responsibly with minimal supervision. Must have knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
- Job responsibilities include, but may not be limited to: Assists the Director of Athletic Training in coordinating all phases of health care program for intercollegiate athletes. Communicate with coaches, administrators, physicians, and parents regarding injury status of student athletes. Complete all credit card reconciliations, email correspondence, and returning of phone calls in a timely manner, meeting deadlines as directed. Maintain Tennessee State License and National Certification (NATABOC) to facilitate a knowledge level that allows functioning as a healthcare provider with independent decision
- making to the ensure health and safety of the athletic department. Oversee the complete spectrum of medical care (physical and mental) of intercollegiate student-athletes, including, but not limited to injury reduction, coverage of events, evaluation/assessment, referral to directing physicians, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses, determining a safe return to sports. Provide on-site coverage of for athletic practices, games, and special events as assigned. Travel as necessary. Regular attendance is an essential function to perform the duties of this position. Secondary administrative duties as assigned (i.e. inventory, golf cart maintenance or athletic training room facility tasks. Understand and comply with all rules and guidelines set forth by the NCAA, Rhodes College, SAA (Southern Athletic Conference) and Rhodes College Athletics, working with compliance office to make sure programs and student-athletes are complying with all rules and regulations regarding compliance issues. All athletic staff should score a minimum score of 75 on the NCAA Rules Test. Maintain professional knowledge and skills by attending trainings and participating in professional development.

- Work: Exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Position involves both inside sedentary work and work on different fields and on other fitness environments while coaching and training situations with student-athletes. Lifting required (i.e., set-up of scorers’ table, etc.), some manual labor is expected. Evening and weekend hours in all types of weather, with travel is necessary.
