Job description

  • The Middle School English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher at St.
  • Mark School in Catonsville, Maryland, will be responsible for all ELA curriculum instruction at the middle school level.
  • The ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students is essential.
  • The teacher should also be knowledgeable in integrating technology into lessons.
  • This position is for the 2026–2027 school year.
  • Essential Functions
  • Provide a grade-appropriate instructional program for students that adheres to the school's philosophy, goals, and objectives.
  • Maintain an attractive, organized, and engaging learning environment.
  • Develop lesson plans with clear objectives in line with the Archdiocese of Baltimore and State of Maryland standards.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development.
  • Provide regular and consistent communication with parents, students, staff, and administration.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding students, their families, and other employees outside the school.
  • Perform additional duties as needed for the supervision of students before, during, or after school.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, school committees, and in-service learning opportunities.
  • Maintain high professional standards consistent with the mission of St. Mark School and the teachings of the Catholic Church.
  • Be responsible for the safety and active supervision of students at all times, and for classroom management using PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention and Support) protocols.
  • Work collaboratively with other teachers, staff, and administration.
  • Attend school events, including Back-to-School Nights, Open Houses, Parent/Teacher conference days, and other events as requested by the administration.
  • Position Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and current MSDE certification or willing to obtain.
  • Successful experience in student teaching or classroom teaching.
  • Basic understanding and acceptance of Catholic school philosophy, goals, and objectives.
  • Must be proficient in using a variety of technology during daily lessons as well as to enrich and differentiate instruction.
