High School teachers provide standards-based direct and targeted instruction to content students virtually, support coursework, offer one-to-one assistance, and grade work promptly. They also build relationships with homeroom students through daily sessions, monitor engagement, and communicate regularly with learning coaches and families.
Applicants must possess a Valid/current Clear California Career Technical Education Teaching Credential and a California English Learner Authorization, and must be permanent California residents residing in one of the 42 serviced counties. Strong content knowledge, excellent communication skills, and organizational abilities are essential for this role.

The California Virtual Academies (a network of 9 public charter schools) delivers online/virtual home based instruction to students in grades TK-12 in California. We use K12, inc. as our curriculum provider for the basis of instruction and teachers provide live instruction via the Engageli platform. While our schools do offer some scheduling flexibility, students are still required to log into the online school daily, complete coursework, and attend instructional sessions.
Teachers hold parent/teacher/student conferences quarterly, attend virtual meetings, and participate in PLCs, data conferencing, and professional development, both virtually and in-person. Teachers may meet with their students face-to-face for tutoring and at other in-person opportunities. All teachers are required to proctor state testing.
Full time teachers work Monday-Friday from 8: 30am-4:00pm You are not allowed to have another job during contracted hours
Full Time High School Teachers: Annual salary based on holding a Bachelors or Masters Degree and up to 3 years of experience in California

Job Title: High School Teacher- Career Technical Education (CTE)
Virtual schools are new models in public education. They look both backward to what we know works well in educating children, and forward to see how technology can help us implement these strategies with children. Virtual school teachers are part of a pioneering effort. Our teachers, therefore, need to share the school’s pioneering mission and approach.
The Career Readiness Education (CRE) Teacher is a state certified teacher and/or alternatively certified CRE Teacher responsible for delivering specific course content in a Project Based Learning online environment. The CRE teacher must provide instruction, support and guidance, manage the learning process, and focus on students’ individual needs. Teachers monitor student progress through K12’s learning management system, and work actively with students and parents to advance each student’s learning and working with Career Counselors to develop and monitor a plan for post-secondary success via online tools like Tallo, Career Builder and Career Cruising.

Students will be assigned to teachers by the Director or designee according to a number of variables. In general, the Director or designee will look to assign students by geographical location and/or grade level. Full time classes will be filled prior to assigning students to part time teachers. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; and experience using a student information system and/or other type of database software. Experience moderating web meetings (Blackboard Collaborate, Webinar, Webex) for small and large groups.

This position is a virtual position working from a home office. Must have ability to travel throughout the school year within and between assigned geographic areas to support students, attend regularly scheduled meetings, proctor state exams and participate in school activities and orientations.
