Job description
- The Peer Mentor shares the responsibility for ensuring that our youth receive professional, safe care in a well-maintained and secure environment.
- In this function the Peer Mentor shares the responsibility to ensure that YMCA, and DMH policies are applied.
- The Peer Mentor will utilize their experiences, communication skills, knowledge of treatment systems and motivational and encouragement skills to support our youth.
- The Peer Mentor will provide our youth with a positive role model, work to enhance the self-worth of our youth and assist our youth with their efforts at reaching their full potential.
- The Peer Mentor will contribute to a positive work environment by illustrating pride in his/her job and cooperation with their co-workers.
- The Peer Mentor will reflect and display the Old Colony Y values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or the equivalent
- Work related experience working with adolescents preferred.
- Experience within Social Services.
- Associates or Bachelors Degree in Human Services (preferred, not required).
