About the role

The Sport Clubs Coach II (Badminton) is primarily responsible for coaching the assigned Badminton club(s), which includes coordinating practices, home and away competitions, and tournaments. This role requires the ability to instruct participants ranging from beginners to experienced high school and collegiate athletes on fundamentals and technique.

The Sport Clubs Coach II (Badminton) is responsible for the coaching of the assigned Badminton club(s).

Duties

General

Responsible for coordinating practices; home and away competitions; and tournaments. Must be able to teach a wide array of participants from beginners to experienced high school and collegiate athletes. Properly instruct fundamentals and technique.

Administrative

The coach will assist club leadership with short and long-term goals and a plan of action for the academic year.

Performs other duties as assigned to support the department, division, and university.

Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree preferred

Candidates must have, as a minimum

two years’ experience coaching at the youth, high school, junior college or collegiate club level and be a High School Graduate/GED

Candidates need to effectively communicate with a diverse student population, have demonstrated leadership skills, organizational skills and experience commensurate with coaching at the collegiate club level.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

Hourly wage is commensurate with knowledge, skills and experience.

This is a seasonal, hourly, part time position typically from August through May of the following year.

Travel is required for tournaments.

Practices are typically 2-3 days per week September through April, with 3-5 tournaments during the season (mainly in Southern California; though some out of state travel will be required).

Typical schedule will be 8-20 hours weekly when classes are in session.

Salary Range

and expected hiring range for the position is $20.00 - $30.00 per hour.

Requirements

Candidates must possess a minimum of two years of coaching experience at the youth, high school, junior college, or collegiate club level, along with a High School Graduate/GED. Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree, effective communication with a diverse student population, demonstrated leadership, and strong organizational skills.
