The instructor will facilitate weekly lessons for 6th through 8th-grade students, including a 9-week High School intensive for 8th graders, and develop/facilitate a High School prep curriculum for 6th and 7th graders from January onward. Responsibilities also include providing guidance on the NYC High School entrance process and supporting students in their selection and admissions process.
Candidates must possess strong academic skills in English and Math, a Bachelor's degree in a related field, and a minimum of two years of professional experience working with children in educational or community settings. Familiarity with NYC High School admissions procedures and proficiency in understanding IEPs and special needs are also required.
Provide information and general guidance for NYC High School entrance process, including public, charter and private school options. Teach small groups and design appropriate lesson plans/workshops/exercises to suit the size and learning needs of the group. Knowledge of trends in education, career exploration and educational planning. Support students in their High School admissions process. Attend bi-weekly staff/planning meetings. Competitive hourly rate ($30.00 - $35.00) based on experience. This is a part-time hourly position for 4 afternoons per week from 2:30PM to 5:30PM.
