- Function/Duties of Position The Hospital Dental Services (HDS) department's working location is nestled in Portland's beautiful OHSU Marquam Hill Campus.
- Hospital Dental Services (HDS) provides care for medically fragile and special needs patients.
- Dental Assistants in the department assist in both the clinic and the operating room.
Travel
- Continuing education may require attendance at workshops or seminars. Ability to take the tram between Robertson Life Science Building (South Waterfront) and Marquam Hill campus required. The Hospital Dental Services (HDS) dental assistant advanced functions under the direct supervision of the faculty provider, providing assistance for the faculty provider, dental students, and residents in all areas of the hospital dental department. Hospital Dental Services has three defined programs, pediatrics, adult dentistry, and oral surgery. Schedule varies for clinic/OR days.
- Employee works a 40 hour work week,
- Monday through
- Friday, 6:30
- AM-5:00 PM (8 hour shifts, rotating through all services GPR, OMS, PEDs, and Operating Rooms in DCH, SOR, and CHH).
- Environmental exposures: Blood, bodily fluids, needle sticks, nitrous oxide, scalpel cuts and minimum radiation. Required Qualifications Completion of an approved Dental Assistant training program AND two years' experience as a chair side Dental Assistant in an Advanced Specialty OR Three years' experience as a chair side Dental Assistant in an Advanced Specialty Certification by the Oregon State Board of Dentistry for Radiological Proficiency required for all positions Current valid Basic Life Support (BLS) card required issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) is required for all positions Must have worked as a dental assistant in an advanced specialty within the last 5 years Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation Why apply to OHSU?
