The early head start teacher will use the center's indoor and outdoor settings to establish rich learning experiences that build upon daily routines and support each child's unique development. The teacher must intentionally create a bond of care and attention to enable infants and toddlers to learn and develop appropriately, recognizing the importance of every action in early development.

Requirements summary

Candidates must possess either an infant/Toddler child development associate (Cda) credential or an associate's or bachelor's degree in early childhood education. Alternatively, a degree in any field is acceptable if the candidate is willing to obtain an emphasis in infant and toddler development certificate through a provided 1-2 week training course.
