The certified recreational therapist provides rehabilitative programs and services through patient assessment and therapeutic activities. They participate in treatment teams to develop, maintain, or restore patients' competencies.

A bachelor's degree in recreational therapy or a closely related field is required, along with an active recreational therapist license. Candidates must also complete an approved clinical internship and pass a security background clearance.
