Job summary

Responsible for assisting in the educational activities in the classroom providing care, supervision, and safety of all children.

Children supervision responsibility

Responsible for child supervision and for keeping children safe.

Essential functions

1. Assist staff in planning and implementing age-appropriate curriculum and daily operations of the classroom.

2. Assist classroom staff with mealtime service, toileting/hygiene duties, and classroom set up/clean up.

3. Provides appropriate staff-child interactions and supports the social, emotional, physical, and developmental needs of each child.

4. Help maintain classroom monitoring, supervision of children, and ratio.

5. Support lesson plans and classroom activities as assigned by classroom staff.

6. Help with monitoring and oversight of children during outside play and/or gross motor activities.

7. Adhere to Alliance for Community Empowerment Inc. policies and procedures related to prevention and response to COVID-19, including participating in training, use of PPE, implementation of universal precautions, social distancing, and keeping workspace clean.

8. Assist with daily health screening, monitoring as related to COVID-19.

9. Ability to respond appropriately to an emergency or crisis.

10. Physical ability to monitor and respond quickly to children who are very active and may need redirection to ensure their safety or the safety of others.

11. Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education, experience and skills required

  • Good organizational skills required.
  • If candidate is offered employment with Alliance for Community Empowerment Inc, candidate must be willing to pursue their GED within 18 months of hire.
  • Good oral and written communication skill are a plus.
  • Bi-lingual helpful but not required.
  • Travel required.
