Position Summary
The functions of the ED Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) are to provide nursing professional development and education services by assisting nurses and staff members to prepare for contemporary practice and supporting them in acquiring the knowledge and skills so that they can competently collect patient health data, and analyze the data to determine diagnoses, identify expected outcomes individualized to the patient, develop a plan of care that prescribes interventions to attain the expected outcomes, implement the interventions identified in the plan of care, and evaluate the patient’s progress toward attainment of the outcomes in the Emergency Department Setting. The CNE will also be involved in the development and education services of the unlicensed assistive personnel.
Experience
Has knowledge of professional nursing principles, practices, concepts and procedures as applied to the care of the patient population served. Has worked in an adult care setting for minimum of 5 years and maintained nursing knowledge in nursing management and care of adult and geriatric and pediatric patient problems and conditions. Has proven skills in development of educational contract with ability to develop and facilitate relevant and effective education modules to adult learners. Has proven skills in adult teaching skills to assure positive development of new knowledge, skills, and abilities to the nursing care providers. Maintains knowledge in maintaining, operating and monitoring complex equipment related to patient care.
License/Registration/Certification
Require current State of California Board of Registered Nursing License. Require current American Heart Association BCLS certification for Healthcare Providers Certificate. Require current American Heart Association ACLS and PALS or ENPC certification.
