Job description

SUMMARY

Works to educate at-risk targeted populations to discourage substance abuse and encourage healthy behaviors in children, their families, and other adults.

Essential functions

Recruit and enroll participants.

Follow assessment and evaluation procedures.

Deliver prevention education curriculum(s).

Make referrals to mental health and other support services.

Attend all project staff meetings and training required by program.

Serves as facilitator of ongoing support groups.

Perform related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Associates OR High School Diploma. Bilingual (English/Spanish, Swahili, Kirundi, Arabic, Pashto, Dari, OR Ukrainian). Must become CPR, First Aid certifies. Must become fingerprint certified in accordance with Arizona Department of Public Safety requirements. Experience in participatory training/education.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Knowledge of and sensitivity to the cultural, gender, and acculturation differences that affect the needs of program participants.

Knowledge of prevention principles and practices.

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Demonstrated ability to teach adults and children.

Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Ability to establish rapport with many different types of people.

Other Potential Requirements: Availability to work evening and weekend hours

Possession of first aid and CPR certification.
