The Classroom Aide will support teachers in implementing lessons, reinforcing learning through individual and small-group work, and maintaining a safe, structured classroom environment reflecting Catholic values. Key duties include assisting with instructional material preparation, supervising students during various activities, and supporting academic and behavioral growth.

Job summary

St. Justin Martyr Catholic School is seeking a caring, patient, and dependable Classroom Aide to support teachers and students within our faith‑centered learning environment. The ideal candidate will assist with daily classroom operations, provide individual and small‑group support, and help create a positive, structured environment that reflects the values of our Catholic community.

Key Responsibilities

Support the classroom teacher in implementing lessons, activities, and routines aligned with school and Archdiocesan expectations.

Work with individuals or small groups of students to reinforce learning, practice skills, and support academic and behavioral growth.

Assist in maintaining a safe, orderly, and respectful classroom environment that reflects Catholic values.

Help prepare instructional materials, organize supplies, and set up learning activities.

Supervise students during classroom work, transitions, recess, lunch, and other school activities as assigned.

Provide positive encouragement and guidance to students to support social‑emotional development.

Assist with classroom management using consistent, developmentally appropriate strategies.

Support teachers with recordkeeping tasks such as organizing student work, monitoring progress, or documenting observations.

Communicate effectively and professionally with teachers, staff, and students.

Attend staff meetings, trainings, and school events as requested.

Maintain confidentiality and uphold the school’s mission and Catholic identity in all interactions.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; some college or experience in education or childcare preferred.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education; willingness to model Christian behavior.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and school staff.
  • Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, flexibility, and a genuine desire to support student learning and well‑being.
  • Ability to follow teacher direction while also taking initiative when appropriate.
