- Louis.Job Summary The PSR Catechist is responsible for providing faith formation and religious instruction to students enrolled in the Parish School of Religion (PSR) program.
- The catechist helps students grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ and understanding of Catholic teachings, Scripture, sacraments, prayer, and Christian living in accordance with the teachings of the Catholic Church.Job Responsibilities Teach weekly PSR classes using parish- and diocesan-approved curriculum and materials.
- Prepare and present engaging, age-appropriate religion lessons rooted in Catholic teaching and tradition.
- Foster a positive, respectful, and faith-filled classroom environment.
- Lead students in prayer and encourage participation in the sacramental life of the Church.
- Assist with sacramental preparation programs, including First Reconciliation, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation as assigned.
- Encourage Christian values, service, and discipleship through word and example.
- Maintain classroom attendance and communicate concerns or needs with the Assistant Director of Faith Formation.
- Collaborate with PSR staff, volunteers, and parents to support student faith formation.
- Attend catechist meetings, trainings, retreats, and parish events as required.
- Follow all parish, diocesan, and Safe Environment policies and procedures.
- Job Requirements Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church Knowledge and understanding of Catholic doctrine and teachings Desire to share and witness the Catholic faith with children and youth Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively with children, families, volunteers, and parish staff Previous teaching or catechetical experience preferred but not required Completion of required Safe Environment training and background screening The Archdiocese of St.
