Preschool Teacher Assistant - Head Start

The teacher assistant supports the lead teacher and family educators by assisting in education, food service, and cleaning tasks within the head start program. Key duties include ensuring classroom safety, supporting child development through curriculum implementation, conducting observations, and maintaining a clean and orderly environment.

Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or ged, and candidates must obtain a child development associate (Cda) or early childhood education certificate within two years of hire (Level i) or already possess one (Level ii). Required experience includes six months in a head start classroom or one year in a general preschool/Childcare setting.
