Description Citizenship & Science Academy of Rochester Elementary Charter School is currently accepting applications for a Music Teacher (Grades K–6) for the 2025–2026 school year. We are seeking dynamic, collaborative, flexible, and engaging educators. We offer a supportive environment for new teachers and encourage experienced educators to apply. New York State Certification is required.
Key Responsibilities The ideal candidate will
Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans aligned with the school’s curriculum and New York State learning standards Demonstrate a strong understanding of Common Core and state standards Modify, redesign, and develop curriculum as needed to meet student needs Collaborate with staff to align instructional goals, objectives, and methods Prepare students for relevant standardized assessments Apply strong content knowledge and effective instructional practices Use data and analytics to inform instruction and improve student outcomes Maintain a structured, positive, and effective classroom environment Foster a love of music, creativity, and self-expression in students Embrace feedback, accountability, and continuous professional growth

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred Valid New York State Teaching Certification (required) Experience working with diverse student populations or in an urban setting (preferred) Prior teaching experience (preferred), though new teachers are encouraged to apply Fingerprint clearance through the NYS Department of Education Music-Specific Qualifications: Strong background in music education, music performance, or a related field Ability to teach foundational music skills including rhythm, melody, harmony, and music literacy Experience with vocal and/or instrumental instruction (e.g., choir, general music, beginner instruments) Ability to incorporate movement, performance, and interactive activities into lessons Experience directing student performances, concerts, or school-wide events Familiarity with a variety of musical genres, cultures, and historical contexts Ability to integrate music with other subject areas and enhance cross-curricular learning Experience using music technology and digital tools to support instruction (e.g., recording apps, composition software) Ability to create an inclusive environment that encourages creativity, confidence, and collaboration Core Competencies Growth mindset; flexible and adaptable Intrinsically motivated Compassionate and student-centered Strong belief that all students can succeed Receptive to feedback with the ability to implement changes quickly Comfortable using data to drive instruction Learn More About Us Visit our district website to learn more about our schools and community: www.sany.org www.csarochester.org
