What we want We are seeking Academic Mentors for students in the Athletics Department at Texas A&M. The Academic Mentor will develop strategies for student-athlete’s individual learning style, working with assigned student-athletes to develop a professional relationship to maximize their academic potential. This is a part-time/temporary opportunity with non-standard hours, and a Bachelor's Degree is required. Qualifications Required Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree. Experience working with students in an academic environment. Required Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills: Must possess strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others. Willing to work non-standard hours.
Master’s degree. Experience in the education system.
Work with assigned student-athletes to develop a professional relationship to maximize their academic potential. Provide general instruction in study skills, note-taking skills, test-taking skills. Guide student-athletes in the development of time management and in developing organizational skills. Develop strategies for the student-athlete’s individual learning style. Create daily progress reports using on-line system and may performs other duties as assigned. Collaborate with Scholastic Supervisors and Learning Specialists about progress and individual student needs.
