Child Watch Associate-Part Time

Position Summary

  • Part Time Under supervision of the Branch Director/ Associate Branch Director or Child Watch Supervisor and consistent with the Christian mission of the YMCA. The Child Watch Associate is responsible for providing a safe, secure and fun environment to enhance the quality, growth and retention of the participants of the Child Watch program. The Child Watch Associate will assist with various activities such as special events, and other activities that occur on various occasions.
  • Nurtures children through purposeful interaction dedicated to building belonging in children and relationships among children and within families.
  • Tends to the needs of each child including diaper changes
  • Responsible for the safety of all children in the program
  • Supervises the children and all activities including ADA accommodations where appropriate. Follows all procedures and standards.
  • Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective communication
  • with parents.
  • Maintains program site and equipment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • Current Infant/Child CPR certification required
  • Knowledge and experience with the care and feeding of infants, toddlers and young children.
  • Ability and willingness to change diapers while using techniques to avoid the risk of exposure to blood or other bodily fluids that may lead to the spread of infection.
  • Demonstrate maturity and strong interpersonal skills with the ability and willingness to approach participants in a non-threatening manner to manage behavior and diffuse potentially volatile situations.
  • Have a positive attitude and desire to achieve the mission of the Upper Palmetto YMCA
  • Carrying, sitting, seeing, hearing, speaking, running, crouching, lifting (25 Lbs.), and walking.
