Core responsibilities
The nurse midwife provides comprehensive care to pregnant and birthing individuals across antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and neonatal stages, alongside primary health care services for women from adolescence through menopause. Essential functions include evaluating patient health status, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, performing procedures, prescribing medications, and teaching/Supervising students and residents in the clinical setting.
Requirements summary
Candidates must have a master's degree and be a graduate of a nationally accredited midwife degree program, coupled with 1-3 years of required experience in both inpatient and outpatient midwifery care. Necessary licenses include cnm certification, nrp, bls, dea registration, and state-Specific prescriber credentials.
