Job Description

The successful candidate will enhance student access, success, and degree completion by teaching undergraduate courses with a primary focus in the prelicensure baccalaureate program within the School of Nursing through a lens of racial equity and social justice; advising and mentoring students using a welcoming, equitable and inclusive approach; engaging actively in scholarship and continued professional development; and participating in service to the discipline, department, university, and community. Must have an active, unrestricted Minnesota registered nurse license at the time of appointment. A typical faculty workload responsibility may include up to twenty four (24) credits of instruction per academic year. May need to teach in other areas as assigned and qualified. The successful candidate will be expected to teach in the pre-licensure program on the main campus in Mankato, at clinical sites as assigned, and develop/instruct online coursework. The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues in curriculum design, instruction and evaluation, and help create innovative strategies for student recruitment, retention, and completion, and expectations as listed in Appendix G of the IFO Master Agreement. All faculty members are expected to engage in scholarly or creative activity or research, in continuing preparation and study, in contributing to student growth and development, and in providing service to the university and community (see Article 22 and Appendix G of the IFO Master Agreement).

Minimum Qualifications

Demonstrated ability to serve a diverse population and apply an equity lens, including social justice and/or anti-racism, to the role. Doctorate in nursing or closely related field (Conferred by the time of application or conferred by the time of application for tenure.) Graduate degree in nursing (Conferred on an official transcript at the time of hire) Active unrestricted Registered Nurse licensure; active unrestricted Minnesota Registered Nurse license at the time of appointment. Demonstrated ability to serve a diverse population and apply an equity lens to this position, including social justice and/or anti-racism. Ability to travel to clinical sites weekly or as necessary to facilitate student learning. Preferred Qualification Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment. Demonstrated effective written, oral communication and/or presentation skills. Teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or graduate level. Clinical experience in last 1-3 years. Experience developing and facilitating student learning during low, medium, and high-fidelity simulation. Evidence of or potential for nursing scholarship. About The School of Nursing is a welcoming, equitable, and inclusive environment offering innovative, family- and society-focused, technology-enhanced curricula for graduate and undergraduate students. We offer two programs leading to a Bachelor of Science degree which are the Pre-licensure and RN Baccalaureate of Science programs. The RN Completion program is 100% online with an enrollment of approximately 700 students. The Pre-licensure program is offered at the Mankato campus and is an upper-division, four-semester major with about 270 students enrolled. Courses are primarily offered face-to-face on the Mankato campus, with learning activities in our Maverick Family Nursing Simulation Center as well. The BSN-DNP/FNP program is offered at the MSU Mankato Center for Graduate and Professional Studies located in Edina and has an enrollment of approximately 50 students. A new Advanced Professional Nurse MS Degree Program is 100% online with approximately 100 students. The Glen Taylor Nursing Institute for Family and Society, associated with the School of Nursing, provides opportunities for scholarly activity.
