We serve neurodiverse adolescents ages 13-22. Our multidisciplinary team works to create rich and meaningful experiences that will nurture learning and prepare our students for their transition into adulthood and independent living. While our classrooms have four walls, we consider Boston our second classroom, and our students are often making meaning and deepening learning throughout the city. The Position In alignment with Ivy Street’s mission of being a transition-based program the nursing department aims to prepare and properly educate students on how to navigate the healthcare system and their own wellness needs. Some of these goals each nurse would work on include medication education, medication packing, making healthcare appointments, assisting with self-advocacy at healthcare appointments, communication with outside providers. (1) Full Time Role (1) Per Diem Role Key Responsibilities Ordering, administering, and managing medications and controlled substances through off grounds partnered pharmacy Monitoring student medication changes and side effects Assist with case management and care coordination between the members of the students outside care team via appointment planning and organization Monitoring students’ overall wellness, and follow up on implemented care plan based on individualized needs Providing health education and acting as a liaison with community physicians and health care providers Monitoring and preparing medications needed for off grounds trips and home visits Communicating with Director of Nursing, clinicians, and other support staff about health concerns and medical incidents Transportation and attendance at appointments when necessary General office inventory and upkeep Supporting students in planning and preparing for their appointments Student and staff medication training when necessary May provide orientation and in-service training on behalf of the clinical team
- Holds a late-night shift once a week (until 6:30pm) Provides case consultation and trainings to staff Qualifications Massachusetts nursing license Driver’s license with clean driving record CPR and CPI certification (trainings offered at Ivy Street) Experience working in an inpatient psychiatry unit, a therapeutic school, and/or with autism/youth with disabilities strongly preferred
