Core responsibilities
The educational interpreter facilitates communication between deaf or hard of hearing students, their peers, and school staff within the classroom and during school events. They also serve as an active member of the educational team by assisting with data collection, iep goals, and student support.
Requirements summary
Candidates must meet massachusetts commission for the deaf & hard of hearing (Mcdhh) requirements, including a minimum 3.5 rating on the educational interpreter performance assessment (Eipa). Fluency in american sign language and english is required, with a bachelor's degree and interpreter training program completion preferred.
