Teen Youth Development Professional

Position Type: Part-Time (25-29 hours per week), some flexibility available

Schedule

  • Preferred availability includes
  • Monday,
  • Tuesday, and
  • Thursday from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m., and
  • Wednesday and
  • Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; schedule may vary slightly based on Club needs.

Compensation

$22 - $25/hour

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality after-school programming for school-age and teen youth, aligned with BGCB’s mission and the goals of the organization.
  • Incorporate youth voice and choice into program planning to ensure relevance, engagement, and ownership.
  • Oversee program planning, development, and implementation across core areas (e.g., academics, recreation, arts & crafts, and physical education) for elementary and teen youth.
  • Ensure that members are encouraged to participate in a variety of program areas and activities and receive instruction and constructive feedback to develop skills in the program area(s).
  • Foster positive behavior and engagement among youth while maintaining a safe, inclusive environment.
  • Collaborate with families, schools, and community partners to ensure youth success.
  • Lead programming and maintain consistent youth interaction and ratios.
  • Continuously evaluate Club programs to ensure they meet member needs and address their gender and cultural diversity.
  • Assist with maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the facility.
  • Occasionally, support different Club sites to meet staffing needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet the organization's evolving needs, including maintaining the site's smooth operation in the Director's absence.
  • May be required to drive the Club van periodically.

Qualifications

  • A four-year degree in a related field from an accredited college or university, or equivalent, is preferred.
  • A minimum of two years’ work experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization, planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people, is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Demonstrated organizational, staff, and project management abilities.
  • Group leadership skills, including an understanding of group dynamics.
  • Collaborative approach and team-oriented mindset.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Must pass a National Background Check and Driving Record Check.
