Job Description

GBC Child and Family Center is seeking teacher aides to assist the Lead Teacher and Assistant Teacher in implementing Child Center curriculum in accordance with the philosophy and policies of the Great Basin College Child & Family Center, NAEYC, QRIS and Pyramid Model. The aide will have various responsibilities as determined by the Director. The position is located in Elko, Nevada. The position reports to the Great Basin College Child & Family Center Lead Teacher and Director.

Qualifications

Enrollment in an Early Childhood class (or CDA) Demonstrated organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Adaptable, teachable, and willing to work with and support other team members Demonstrated ability to respond and make decisions in an ever-changing environment. Ability to teach children through play Applicants must be physically able to perform duties including frequent lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, reaching above shoulder level, climbing stairs, pulling, typing, prolonged standing or sitting.

Responsibilities

Assist the Lead Teacher and Assistant Teacher in instructing children between the ages of 2-5. Participate in caring for the children's well-being and safety. Implement lesson plans, which stimulate the development of age appropriate cognitive and social skills, which include communication, emergent reading, writing, math, science, social studies, creative art, fine and gross motor development. Implement and teach the Pre-Kindergarten Standards through appropriate activities in the classroom. Set-up and maintain an age-appropriate, center-based learning environment which meets the requirements of NAEYC Accreditation, as well as the Pyramid Model and ECCERS assessments. Model attitudes, behaviors, and techniques which contribute to the overall harmonious operation of the program. Promote positive public relations with all contacts within and outside of the Child Family Center. Other duties appropriate to the position as assigned by the Lead Teacher or Director. Follow all guidelines as required by the Great Basin College Child and Family Center Staff Handbook and adhere to all licensing standards as set forth by the Nevada Bureau of Services for Child Care.
