Description Summary
A Team Coach is responsible for instructing climbing teams at Session Climbing. They will work directly under the Head Coaches to coach team members in a creative and challenging environment. Team Coaches will have the opportunity to work with the recreational and/or competitive youth teams. All teams will focus on learning, growth, and building connections. A Team Coach will work with their teams, adapting the curriculum to meet the team member’s needs, and facilitating a supportive, safe, and healthy team community spirit.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Review the curriculum and work with the Head Coaches to ensure that the needs of your team members are met
- Establish and maintain a positive, driven, and supportive culture
- Ensure the safety of youth team members at all times
- Keep all necessary coaching certifications up to date
- Stay informed on current and new training techniques
- Develop and maintain a professional relationship with all team parents
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with all youth team members
- Regularly assess current progress and future goals for all team members
- Meet with the Head Coach regularly to go over current progress and future goals for your students
- Attend competitions, trips to other gyms and outdoor climbing areas for your team
- Be a good role model for team members and representative of the Session team in and out of the gym
- Follow all Session policies
- Regular attendance and schedule adherence
- Other duties as assigned
Compensation: $20-$25, BOE, Part Time Offering
Requirements

- Experienced indoor & outdoor climber in bouldering, top rope, and lead climbing
- Sound understanding of climbing techniques such as footwork, body positioning, movement efficiency, route reading, etc.
- Patient and passionate about working with kids at a variety of ability levels and with a variety of learning styles
- Bring a creative, fun approach to climbing instruction and curriculum; make learning how to climb enjoyable and engaging
- Interested in creating high-quality training curriculum and programming for Team Session ? Excited to collaborate with other coaches to facilitate an exceptional team experience for our climbers and parents
- Preferred: minimum one-year coaching experience
- Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Active Safesport Certification
- USAC Certified preferred
- Active First Aid and CPR Certification

- Ability to use hands to grasp and arms to reach to propel oneself up and down a climbing wall and/or use belay device and rope system

- Ability to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl
- Ability to talk and hear
- Ability to wear harness, helmet
