Duties and Responsibilities

  • Meet students and go over their homework assignments in applicable subject area. Ask students about specific topics or subject areas that warrant further exploration. Review homework and test scores and work through problems or questions. Provides study aids to assist. May perform as lead for other Tutors. Performs other related duties as assigned. Additional Responsibilities Tutor students, individually and in groups. Facilitate learning of course material. Model effective learning and study strategies for content mastery. Attend assigned classes. Arrange and keep working hours at ACE. Develop and maintain a professional relationship with course instructors. Maintain confidential records. Prepare reports. Minimum Requirements Education – bachelor’s degree. Experience – Two year of relevant experience. Must not be currently enrolled as an undergraduate at TAMIU. Preferred Education and Experience Experience working with college/university students in an educational setting. Tutoring experience in content area. Knowledge and Abilities Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. Ability to interact effectively, professionally, and tactfully with students, faculty, and other university personnel. Ability to motivate students. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to arrange and keep a work schedule. Strong academic knowledge in content area. Computer literate in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint. Ability to prepare and facilitate workshops, presentations, and orientations to groups of students. Ability to think critically and solve problems.   • to-face interactions. Position requires maintaining a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace. Position requires keeping a work schedule of 19 hours per week. Posting may require working evening and/or weekend hours. Position is contingent upon funding.
