  • Rockhurst University - Kansas City, MO 64110Rockhurst University is seeking qualified candidates to fill the full-time position of Assistant Athletic Trainer. This 10 month position includes the oversight of all phases of sports medicine for intercollegiate programs and student-athletes, including the care, prevention and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. Rockhurst University currently sponsors 22 men’s and women’s athletic programs. The University is an NCAA Division ll School and a member of the Great Lake’s Valley Conference (GLVC). Founded by the Jesuits in 1910, Rockhurst is a comprehensive university that offers more than fifty undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs taught by nationally recognized faculty. Rockhurst emphasizes learning, leadership, and service. Located in the heart of Kansas City, Missouri, Rockhurst is a Catholic university in the Jesuit tradition committed to providing inclusive, innovative, and transformative education. Rockhurst's quiet, 55-acre campus is nestled just blocks from KC’s famed Country Club Plaza and minutes from downtown. Our campus quad is accented with large oak trees, surrounded by rustic stone buildings. This position provides comprehensive healthcare to student-athletes, including injury prevention, emergency care, clinical evaluation, therapeutic intervention, and rehabilitation. They help manage athletic training facilities and ensure safety during practices and games.
  • Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Work closely with the Head Athletic Trainer and athletic training staff to insure proper medical coverage for all of Rockhurst University athletics and student-athletes. Perform administrative responsibilities such as; coordination of secondary insurance billing and inquiries, pre-participation physical documentation, emergency action planning and coordination, and liaison with third-party entities to enhance student-athlete mental health and diversity initiatives. Assist in the operation of the athletic training facilities, as well as the direct medical care of all student-athletes, including aiding medical personnel with the prevention and treatment of athletic-related injuries incurred by student athletes. Create and/or collaborate with team physicians on rehabilitation programs for injured student-athletes. Prepare and maintain various records, reports and information on injuries, treatments, etc. for insurance, legal or professional purposes. Attend scheduled team practices and competitions, including but not limited to home and away events for sports as assigned. Communicate with team physicians, and extended medical staff, to ensure proper evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of injured student athletes. Communicate effectively with coaches/student-athletes regarding injuries and playing status. Follow the NATA Code of Ethics. Remains current on all state and national requirements for license renewal. Performs other duties and special projects as requested and assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer. Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in athletic training or related field is required. 1-3 Years of experience in athletic training. NATA/BOC Certification, along with eligibility for state of Missouri medical trainer license. First aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and AED certified. Must have demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules and sports medicine standards of care, ability to apply NATA/BOC code of ethics to care, excellent organizational and supervisory skills, strong communication skills, and a strong commitment to professional growth, demonstrated experience working effectively in a diverse environment, and experience working in a comprehensive sports medicine environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in Athletic Training, Health Care, Exercise Science, or related field. Experience in an athletic training program at a collegiate institution.
