  • Purpose
  • Summary: The Counseling Center helps fulfill the University’s value of cura personalis – care for the whole person, mind, body, and spirit – by providing compassionate, competent, and culturally aware mental health services to our students, and outreach to the campus community. This role will fill a temporary vacancy and as such is pivotal in meeting the mental health needs of our students through direct clinical service and outreach/education; and assisting in the support and professional formation of trainee clinicians (as appropriate).
  • PRIMARY
  • DUTIES: Provide multiculturally competent clinical services within a short-term therapy framework to students of the University. This includes individual counseling/psychotherapy, crisis intervention, clinical documentation, and initiating appropriate referrals. On-site presence 3-4 days per week, with a direct clinical load of 18-22 hours/week is expected. Maintain appropriate clinical documentation. Participate in weekly staff meetings and group case consultation. Occasional consultation with faculty or staff regarding students of concern, as needed. As available, provide workshops and presentations to classrooms, in residence halls, and for student organizations as requested by faculty, Student Development staff, and student leaders.

  • QUALIFICATIONS: Fully licensed in Missouri in a mental health related field (Counseling/Clinical Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy). License-eligible candidates are welcome to inquire. Completed license-eligible degree (master’s or higher) from an accredited program in a mental health related field (Counseling/Clinical Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy). Relevant experience applicable to providing mental health counseling to college students. Proficiency in and commitment to multicultural competence and experience working with individuals from culturally diverse populations, including underrepresented and/or underserved populations. Strong interpersonal skills. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS For the purpose of telehealth services, full licensure in Kansas in a mental health related field (Counseling/Clinical Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy). Minimum one (1) year of experience in a University Counseling Center setting. Proficiency with diagnostic tools (DSM-5-TR). Ability to work effectively with traditional and non-traditional college students. Experience with mental health prevention and outreach activities. Experience working with students affected by sexual assault, disordered eating, and body image concerns. Experience with electronic health record systems (e.g., Titanium).

Compensation

  • Hourly pay rate begins at $30/hour and is determined based on experience and licensure status. There are no benefits associated with this position.
