Job Description

Lurie Children’s Hospital is now offering two annual start dates (February & August) for our comprehensive transition-to-practice Respiratory Care Practitioner Residency program. Applications for the August 2026 start date are now closed. We are now interviewing for August waitlist and the February 2027 Start Date. Upcoming Start Date: February, 2027 Respiratory Care, New Graduate Residency: This program delivers a hands-on learning approach to facilitate and support the professional development of new graduate Respiratory Care Practitioners. Once admitted, the New Graduate RCP will practice, under the direct supervision of an experienced and licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner. Possess an active Basic Life Support Certification through American Heart Association, active and in good standing. Possess an Active CRT (Certified Respiratory Therapist) Credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). Have satisfactorily applied in writing to the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation Department seeking licensure, have a current license in IL, or have been issued a temporary license in IL. Required within 90 days of hire: Successfully pass the Respiratory Care licensure examination by The National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). Required within 180 days of hire: Active RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) Credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) Licensure must be furnished by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation Department. Required within the first year of hire: PALS/ NPR/ ACLS certifications.
