Position Summary
Central/YUHSG seeks a High School English Teacher who will foster strong reading, writing, and critical thinking skills while creating a supportive, engaging classroom environment. This role includes planning and implementing curriculum, assessing student progress, and collaborating with colleagues, administrators, and families to support student success.
Position Responsibilities
- Plan and teach engaging English lessons aligned with curriculum goals
- Create a structured, respectful, and supportive classroom environment
- Assess student learning through a variety of methods and provide timely feedback
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and progress
- Communicate openly and proactively with students, families, and colleagues
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development and interdisciplinary initiatives
- Model professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to the school’s mission and values
Experience & Educational Background
- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred
- Prior high school teaching experience preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of subject area content and instructional best practices
