Job description
- Position Overview and Responsibilities The Lower School Counselor at Riverdale serves as part of the Lower School Leadership Team and supports the social and emotional learning and development of all students at the River Campus (PreK-Grade 5).
- The School Counselor provides direct support for students through full class, small group, and solution-focused, short term individual counseling.
- In addition, they make appropriate referrals outside of school, depending on the needs of each student.
- The School Counselor works closely with administration, faculty, parents, and outside service providers.
- Required Qualifications Faculty members are expected to engage in all aspects of work with an open mind, a positive disposition, and a willingness to support the greater community.
- Additionally, Riverdale seeks candidates who are committed to work in the areas of equity, justice, and inclusion.
- A minimum of a Master’s Degree is required for the position (LCSW, MSW, LPC, LMHC, PsyD or PhD).
- Priority is given to those with experience as mental health professionals working with young children using short term solution focused, CBT, and/or play based therapeutic approaches.
- Experience leading professional learning for adults, and classroom experience with learners across the elementary age-range are also preferred. \n
