- The Montgomery College, Adult ESOL & Basic Skills for College and Careers, is currently accepting applications for possible openings as a part-time faculty member teaching GED classes in-person from 10:00am to 5:00pm, 14 hrs/week in an educational setting located in Rockville, MD. This particular teaching opportunity is part-time and is located at MoCo Reconnect Drop-In Center in Rockville, MD. Duties and Responsibilities
Montgomery College is seeking a part-time adjunct instructor for its in-person GED classes in an education setting located at the MoCo Reconnect Drop-In Center. The instructor will be responsible for: Teaching all areas required for completion of the GED®. Completing detailed, daily reports including tracking attendance and student completion of the course objectives. Abiding by all College policies and procedures. Abiding by all policies and procedures set by the MoCo Reconnect Drop-In Center. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Education or related educational field, or in one or more areas covered on the GED® exam: Science, Mathematics, Language Arts or Social Studies. A minimum of 2 years’ experience teaching ABE-ASE classes or high school classes. Experience working with individuals from varied cultural, educational, and socioeconomic backgrounds, with the ability to apply trauma-informed practices in all interactions. Proven experience in delivery of high quality, effective GED® instruction to adult learners. Successful candidates will have a demonstrated commitment to promoting belonging, inclusion, and multicultural competence in an educational and work environment and must be willing to contribute to the Colleges strategic plan of inclusion. Faculty members are expected to have access to a personal computer with virus protection that can connect to the internet outside of the work location (i.e., office, classroom, college campus)*. Montgomery College (MC) provides an MC e-mail account and access to the learning platform, password-protected faculty sections of the website, college listservs, and other faculty communications tools. *If you do not have access to a personal computer, please notify the Special Programs Coordinator at the time of interview. Subject to available funds, the college may be able to provide temporary access to resources. Must be eligible to work in the United States without a sponsor.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in education or related educational field, or in one or more areas covered on the GED® exam: Science, Mathematics, Language Arts or Social Studies. Proven ability to deliver high quality, effective GED® instruction that meets a range of adult learning needs with a focus on measurable learning outcomes. A background in counseling or related field with a focus on trauma or trauma-informed care. For degrees earned outside of the U.S., a copy of your education equivalency, conducted by a nationally recognized evaluation service, must be included in your application. Employees must live in Maryland or a state where the College has payroll reciprocity (DC, VA, PA, WV, DE, MA).
