Our Active Older Adults Group Fitness Program is designed to keep our members moving, laughing, and living their best, healthiest lives. We’re looking for a compassionate, energetic Group Fitness Instructor who loves working with older adults and can bring enthusiasm, safety, and connection to every class.

As an Active Older Adults Group Instructor, you’ll guide members through fun, low-impact workouts that build strength, flexibility, balance, and confidence. More than just exercise, your classes will be a place where friendships form, smiles are shared, and everyone feels valued and capable; no matter their fitness level.

  • Yoga / Balance / Stretching

Position summary

Instructs group classes in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that promotes member wellness and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

Essential functions

1.

Leads energizing, fun, safe, and educational group fitness classes, as directed by the supervisor.

2.

Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA.

3.

Answers questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living; maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.

4.

Teaches at least one group fitness class per pay period, unless your supervisor states otherwise.

5.

Adhere to the Code of Conduct and policies within the Child Abuse Prevention handbook.

6.

Performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 1.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 2.
  • Group Fitness certification in an area of expertise, preferred.
  • 3.
  • At least one year of experience teaching group fitness classes preferred.
  • 4.
  • Able to motivate and encourage individuals through positive attitudes and enthusiasm.
  • 5.
  • Must possess valid driver’s license.
  • 6.
  • Experience with diverse populations, varying ages, knowledge and abilities.

Certifications

1. Bloodborne Pathogens/Child Abuse Prevention every year

Physical demands

1. While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to

bend, stoop, kneel, twist, reach, stand, lift up to 50lbs, grasp, perform repetitive motions, talk and hear. 2.
