Terms/Schedule: Salary; 10-month position Messmer High School is a 9-12 grade Catholic high school that serves students and families on the north side of Milwaukee. Messmer High School currently enrolls over 500 students. 80% of our students attend college. African American students comprise 85% of the student body and over 80% of students qualify for free/reduced meals. Regardless of student background and external factors, MHS maintains high expectations for students. POSITION DESCRIPTION The Guest Teacher is required to be in his/her assigned classrooms daily. The Guest Teacher will be the first person to be assigned as a substitute teacher, and if not needed as a substitute for a given day, he/she will support teachers and/or support staff in other areas. The Guest Teacher will be motivated and have a desire to make a positive impact on students and help students achieve their fullest potential. The Guest Teacher will engage positively and professionally with our school teams to create a positive culture and ensure student success. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: The below statements are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work performed in this position. Demonstrate a clear commitment to student development and learning, and collaboration with a growth mindset in his/her professional practice. Carry out the lesson plans prepared by the absent teacher Follow established teaching protocols and programs to ensure consistency among classes. Work cooperatively and interact positively with students and staff. Oversee classroom discipline and escalate issues to appropriate personnel, as applicable. Participate in and attend all faculty meetings and professional development sessions (as applicable) Proactively and effectively communicate with all school personnel, families (as applicable), and colleagues on time Participate in the school-wide teacher coaching program; receiving feedback and actively working to continuously improve teaching practice and overall performance QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education Requirements: Bachelor of Arts/Science Required Certifications/Licenses: Preferred but not required: State of Wisconsin educator license and/or certification (any area) Experience: Prefer but not required: teacher experience, preferably in an urban city classroom PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Must be mission-driven, demonstrate the highest integrity, and be able to live the values, beliefs, and culture of Messmer Catholic Schools Relentless pursuit of high expectations Excellent written, verbal communication, and listening skills with keen attention to detail Lifelong learner who is reflective and always looking to improve We strive to attract and retain a highly skilled faculty and staff that can respond to the needs of our students and community.
