Job description
The Language Department seeks a leave replacement instructor to join our department for the 2026-2027 school year for four sections of French I, II, and III. This is currently a temporary position with the potential to transition into a permanent role based on performance and institutional needs.
The instructor will work with the department chair to ensure an integrated and cohesive curriculum. Additionally, the instructor will be encouraged to use creative and innovative teaching techniques, including but not limited to experiential learning and reflection practices. The instructor will embrace Emma Willard School’s academic program pillars [https://www.emmawillard.org/academics/program-pillars] of intellectual flexibility, purpose and community, and equity and justice as a guide.
As a boarding school, Emma Willard asks all teachers to contribute to the overall life of the school. All full-time teachers serve as advisors and support our co-curricular program, which includes activities like advising a student club or coaching a sport. Because this is a temporary position, candidates interested in a full-time or an adjunct position (teaching only) are both encouraged to apply.
We seek someone who is committed to and willing to navigate today’s changing and diverse landscape. This individual will help the school promote and nurture an equitable and inclusive community. The School encourages candidates from under-represented groups to apply, as well as individuals who have demonstrated experience with diverse populations.
