Job description

  • Theology Teacher Walsh Jesuit High School is seeking a full-time dedicated Theology Teacher for the 2026-2027 academic year.
  • The Theology Teacher will work under the supervision of the Principal.
  • The ideal candidate will be able to teach across multiple areas of the Bishops’ Curriculum Framework for high school religion and will actively contribute to Walsh Jesuit’s Christ-centered, Jesuit mission of forming men and women for others who are open to growth, intellectually competent, religious, loving, and committed to doing justice.
  • Major Responsibilities: 1.
  • Instructional Planning & Delivery 1.
  • Teach the curriculum reflecting knowledge of the subject matter (subject matter expert) and of specific learning styles of your students 2.
  • Prepare course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts 3.
  • Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions or activities 4.
  • Compile, evaluate and/or grade students' class work reflecting learning styles of students 5.
  • Participate in the planning, development and evaluation of curricula, course materials and methods of instruction.

  • Utilize up-to-date technology in lesson plans and classroom management 2.

  • Manage the classroom to ensure successful learning for every student 2.
  • Maintain contact with students and parents with effective and regular communication 3.

  • Maintain expertise in field through ongoing professional development demonstrating a commitment to field of study or knowledge of learning styles 4.
  • Faith Formation 1.
  • Embrace, display, and support Catholic/Christian values and spiritual formation.

  • Regular participation in Ignatian formation activities including the school’s formal formation program, school masses, and annual faculty retreat.

  • Willingness to participate in the community life of the school, including extracurricular activities, student retreats, immersion trips, moderating clubs, and participating in service alongside students.

Core Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or post graduate work in Theology or a related field from an accredited Catholic college or university
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Understanding technology in curriculum design and classroom presentation
  • Possess or working toward a valid High School Catechist certification through the Diocese of Cleveland
  • Experience in Catholic learning environment preferred
  • Commitment to Jesuit values and faith-based student formation.
  • Embrace and display Catholic/Christian values and spiritual life.
