Position Summary

The Camp Cabin Leader is responsible for creating a safe, supportive, and engaging living environment for campers with physical and developmental disabilities. This role focuses on daily care, supervision, and fostering independence while ensuring each camper has a meaningful and inclusive camp experience. The Cabin Leader serves as a primary point of support, building strong relationships with campers and promoting a sense of belonging within the cabin group.

  • Create a Positive Cabin Community
  • Build a welcoming, inclusive, and structured cabin environment
  • Establish routines that promote comfort, independence, and success
  • Help campers feel safe, valued, and part of a team
  • Provide Hands-On Support
  • Assist with daily living needs (hygiene, dressing, toileting, feeding as needed)
  • Support mobility, transfers, and use of adaptive equipment
  • Encourage independence while providing the right level of support
  • Ensure Safety & Wellbeing
  • Maintain active supervision at all times
  • Follow all health, safety, and emergency procedures
  • Use de-escalation strategies and positive behavior supports
  • Engage in the Camp Experience
  • Participate in daily activities alongside campers
  • Encourage involvement and social interaction
  • Be a positive, energetic role model

What you bring

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in a caregiving role
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, empathy, and a team-first mindset

Bonus Points If You Have

  • Camp or residential program experience
  • CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Experience with behavior support strategies
