The Assistant Early Childhood Teacher supports the Lead Teacher in creating a nurturing, safe, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for young children in our Early Childhood Program. This role assists with implementing curriculum, engaging in classroom activities, and supporting the overall care and well-being of children.
The Assistant Teacher will work collaboratively with the Lead Teacher and classroom team and may be assigned to infant, toddler, or preschool classrooms based on program needs, candidate experience, and preference discussed during the interview process.
General Responsibilities: Collaborate with the Lead Teacher to create a warm, nurturing environment where all children feel welcomed and secure Support the implementation of developmentally appropriate curriculum and daily classroom activities Meet NAEYC and Keystone STARS standards Follow DHS regulations and adhere to guidelines outlined in the JCC Early Childhood Program Handbook, including: Communication with families Care of classroom, facility, and equipment Record keeping Curriculum support Health and safety procedures Team collaboration Support supervision and care of children to ensure their physical, emotional, and developmental well-being Attend required team, program, and JCC meetings and trainings Other duties as assigned to support the needs of the classroom and program Time used to support the JCC in meeting Keystone STARS quality standards is funded by Keystone STARS. If funding is reduced or eliminated, responsibilities will be adjusted accordingly or hours may be reduced proportionate to time spent on these activities. Performance Expectations: Demonstrate openness to Jewish values, traditions, and culture within the JCC environment Attend and actively participate in required meetings, trainings, and JCC events Positively represent the JCC’s mission, programs, and community impact Understand and model the JCC Core Values in all interactions with children, families, and staff Skills and Qualifications: High school diploma plus 15 credits in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Human Services, or related field and one year of experience working with children; OR High school diploma plus 30 credits in the above fields; OR High school diploma plus two years of experience working with young children $1,500 Sign-On Bonus! JCC teachers can earn a one-time new hire bonus of $500 at 90 days, and an additional $1,000 after six months in the role.
